Three Men in a Boat

Three Men in a Boat - Jerome K. Jerome Well, I would be reading this book still if someone in the family had not absconded it. I can always find it when I want, because I just listen for the sound of chortling and muffled laughs. When the book is released from its current reader, I'll finish reading it and write my review!**********************The book has been found and wrested from the hands of the family thief. (and no, it wasn't the dog!)Written in 1889, this short but hilariously funny book chronicles the two week rowing excursion of three friends, J. (the author), George, and William. They are accompanied by J's Jack Russell terrier, Montmorency. The Thames river provides the backdrop for numerous situations that all seem to turn laughable. Montmorency's great fight with the cat. George's constant desire to practice his banjo playing. J's history of medical ailments (there are 107). The list goes on!My favorite quote from the book? "I like work: it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours. I love to keep it by me: the idea of getting rid of it nearly breaks my heart."
